Germany exports almost 11.5% of its beer production. It sends almost 1.5% of its beer output (about 12.1 million hectoliters or 1.5 million U.S. barrels) to the United States alone, making the U.S. Germany's second-most imortant beer export market, after Italy and before France. Conversely, in the U.S., which imports 12 to 13% (roughly 27 million hectoliters or 24 million barrels) of all its beers, one in every twenty of those imports is German. German beer shipments to the U.S. represent an annual trade value of about $U.S. 150 million.
